My review of the 5-Piece Hard Shell Luggage Set from Tavoxda: luggage that looks high-end, without the high price tag!
As a full-time travel blogger (and undeniable travel addict), I take dozens of trips each year, from weekend city breaks to long-haul flights. I need luggage that can keep up with me, but also look the part whenever I’m lucky enough to stay at a fancy resort for work!
Enter Tavoxda’s super-stylish hard shell luggage set. This 5-piece set is an absolute steal at just £99.99 for three cases, a backpack and a toiletry bag. But with its sleek, vintage-luxury style, it looks like it’s worth much more. I love finding great luggage that won’t break the bank, so I’ve been testing all the pieces to see if they’re as good as they look. Here’s my review.
This review is written in collaboration with Tavoxda, but I tested the cases thoroughly before writing. As always, all words, opinions, and pictures are my own.

Notes on Case Sizes
Small/Carry-on Case (20″): The 20″ small suitcase is surprisingly roomy and incredibly lightweight, ideal for short overnight trips or using as carry-on luggage. At 56×36.5x22cm, it fits most airlines’ carry-on size restrictions, including EasyJet and British Airways (both 56x45x25cm). However, it’s slightly too tall for some budget airlines like Ryanair, whose paid cabin baggage allowance is 55x40x20cm.

Checked Cases: Tavoxda’s checked luggage sizes are much roomier than the carry-on. As a solo traveller, the 24″ is ideal; it’s small and sleek enough to manoeuvre on my own, and the 67L capacity is plenty for a trip of about a week. The large 28″ case is perfect for longer trips, although personally, I’d try to stick to the smaller 24″ case as I think the larger one would be too big for me to carry. With its whopping 100L capacity, the large case would be ideal for couples or families. Just be careful not to overfill it if you’re flying, as it could push you over the hold baggage weight allowance!
Tavoxda Luggage Review: My Experiences

After testing out the Tavoxda luggage, I’m very impressed – especially considering the price point. If you’re looking for hard-shell luggage that looks great and feels high-end without costing hundreds of pounds, I think this is a really good option.
High-End Look

First of all: I love the design! The 5-Piece set comes in 4 colour options. The cream, blue and black sets feature brown trim, which gives them a lovely, vintage-luxury look. The pink set is solidly pink with no brown trim, but it’s a more fun, bright option if you prefer colourful luggage.
But back to this gorgeous cream-and-brown set. The colour scheme and retro feel are my favourite aspects of this luggage set. I know looks aren’t everything, but it does always make a trip feel a bit more special when your luggage looks good!
Backpack & Toiletry Bag

The 5-piece set includes a backpack and a roomy, water-resistant washbag. They match the cases’ cream-and-brown retro styling and make great companion pieces.
The backpack is small but makes the most of the space, with 14L capacity, two side pockets for water bottles, and a roomy front pocket. I think it’s ideal for carrying light loads as a day bag, but I wouldn’t use it as luggage; it doesn’t feel quite strong enough to carry heavy loads for long periods. The toiletry bag looks small, but it’s long enough to hold standard-size shampoo bottles etc, meaning you can pack a lot in. I like the tough, water-resistant fabric, which you can wipe clean, and I love how well it matches the luggage pieces.
If you don’t think you’ll need a backpack or toiletry bag (or you already have your own), you can also buy a 3-piece and 2-piece hard-shell luggage set from Tavoxda.
Manoeuvrability

The suitcases all have a three-level telescopic handle and four 360° spinner wheels, making them easy to handle. They’re also incredibly lightweight, which helps with getting them around – especially as a solo traveller. One thing I’d note is that the handle doesn’t feel particularly sturdy, so you should avoid being too heavy-handed with it! But it doesn’t get stuck and isn’t stiff when extending, which is the most important thing.
While the wheels are virtually silent on carpeted floors, they do make a bit of noise on hard floors and tend to rattle on paved surfaces. It’s not bad, and the important thing is that they were smooth and manoeuvrable on all surfaces I tested them on. They glide well, turn easily, and are super easy to move around, even on trickier surfaces like a dirt track. Assuming you’ll mainly be wheeling these cases through airports and train stations, I think they’ll hold up pretty well.
Space and organisation

Thanks to the fairly slim handle channel, these cases really maximise the interior space. Even the smallest case packs 38L, which is pretty good going for carry-on! All three cases open out down the middle (like a book), with a zip-up cover on one side and elasticated straps on the other.
The cover has a slim, mesh pocket which is great for those small, loose items like charging cables or travel documents.
Durability

At this price point, I wasn’t expecting these cases to be the strongest in the world. But they feel surprisingly well built, and I think they’ll last fairly well, especially if you’re careful with them. The hard-shell suitcases are made from ABS, which is the same kind of plastic used to make LEGO bricks. It’s a tough, impact-resistant material built to resist scuffs and scratches.
ABS cases are generally less durable and less scratch-resistant than polycarbonate cases, but they’re lighter and more affordable. They’re still fairly tough, so they make a good alternative if you’re shopping for luggage on a budget.
The handles and wheels feel a little less sturdy, but I haven’t managed to break them yet despite my rigorous testing (and accidentally dropping the smallest case down the steps at the station!). One thing I always check is the zip, because if that breaks, the whole case is unusable. These cases have solid, chunky exterior zips so again, I think they’ll hold up pretty well.
Bear in Mind: Even the best hard-shell suitcases scuff quickly, and lighter colours show marks more, so the cream set won’t look pristine forever.
Tavoxda Luggage Review: The Quick Version

In case you skimmed through the above, here’s a quick list of what you need to know about the Tavoxda 5-Piece Luggage Set:
- Great price point at just £99.99 for 3 cases, a backpack, and a toiletry bag.
- Stylish, slightly vintage design with brown trim for a slightly more high-end look.
- Reasonably durable cases made from sturdy ABS: less tough than polycarbonate cases, but cheaper and lighter.
- They’re not indestructible, and you’ll need to be careful with them, but they should last fairly well.
- The cases open down the middle into two sections, with a zip-up cover on one side.
- Incredibly lightweight for hard-shell luggage; the largest is under 4kg!
- Both the backpack and toiletry bag are made from water-resistant, wipe-clean material.
- Easy to manoeuvre with four 360° spinner wheels that worked well on multiple surfaces.
- The cream shows up scuffs easily.
For me, the biggest selling point of this Tavoxda luggage set is the fantastic price and the stylish, vintage-luxury look. Generally, you get what you pay for with luggage. Cases built to withstand anything typically cost 3 or 4 times as much as these; I have a medium-size polycarbonate case that cost the same as this whole set!
If you travel frequently and want indestructible luggage, look at some of the more expensive brands. But if you take a couple of holidays a year and just want something sturdy and “good enough” that looks great and handles easily, this set is ideal.

How I Tested the Cases
Over the years, I’ve tried and tested many different suitcases, backpacks, and packing accessories, so I know what to look for (and what red flags to watch for).
For this review, I put the cases through my usual testing. I filled them with about 10kg and pulled them around in a few different locations and on various surfaces, including pavement (sidewalk), a gravel path, inside a train station, and carpet. I walked all 3 cases around my flat several times, navigating furniture (and the piles of clothes I never seem to put away!). To see how easy they are to use in normal travel situations, I also loaded them into and out of my car (both the boot and the back seat) and took them on a train for one stop. They were easy to manoeuvre and held up well under normal use.
In addition to my standard testing, I also took the small case on an overnight trip. I’ll be taking the medium case on an overseas trip soon, and will update this post if I have anything new to say after some more real-world use.
