hotels for a blowout weekend

Looking for the perfect spot for a budget-blowing dream getaway? Or just in need of some wanderlust-inducing luxury travel inspiration? Let me take you around the world with my 7 favourite blowout hotels…

Last month, I contributed to a piece for Expedia’s Hotel Edit all about the best hotels for a blowout weekend. Think all-inclusive resorts and mega-luxury hotels – perfect for a splurge if you’re in need of some all-out luxury. Whether you’re looking for total relaxation or a mega-splurge party weekend, I’ve got you covered!

7 Hotels for a Blowout Weekend

Beach Palace Resort – Cancun, Mexico

Looking for a few days of excess and enjoyment? The fabulous Beach Palace Resort in Cancun is my top choice – and the one I recommended for the Expedia piece after spending the most incredible weekend here last January. Think swim-up bars, whirlpool tubs as standard in all rooms, and incredible food. Not to mention all the bars – this is the perfect place to come if you want to party. And bartender Fernando is responsible for one of the worst hangovers of my life!

Arenal Nayara Resort – La Fortuna, Costa Rica

For all-out relaxation in a stunning natural setting, head to the Arenal Nayara Hotel in Costa Rica’s La Fortuna. I spent a few days here last year and absolutely fell in love. The resort is overlooked by the stunning Arenal volcano, which you can see from a lot of the suites. Infinity pools overlooking the jungle, dreamy restaurants, a gorgeous spa, and natural hot spring jacuzzis… this resort has it all. Plus, you might see a sloth on your way back to your room!

Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa – Martin County, Florida

Probably the newest property on my list is the fabulous Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa in Florida’s Martin County. I stayed here last month and had one of my best meals in Florida at the restaurant. Plus, the dreamy heated outdoor pool, with a fab cocktail bar, was ideal for an afternoon chilling out after a super busy weekend exploring Hutchinson Island.

Homewood Park – Bath, UK

Bath is one of my favourite cities in the UK and the perfect place if you’re looking for tranquillity and relaxation in a historic setting. Homewood Park is just outside the city in a gorgeous country manor – with an amazing spa and an incredible restaurant. Check out my review for some more information!

Hotel Lone – Rovinj, Croatia

A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to head to Croatia with one of my best friends, and we had so much fun at the stunning Hotel Lone in Rovinj. The outdoor pool is enormous; you could spend a whole day lazing around beside it. We spent a very tipsy afternoon enjoying the spa and pools and it’s still one of my most memorable luxe experiences!

Thanda Safari – KZN, South Africa

One of the most impressive places I’ve ever been lucky enough to stay was the stunning lodge at Thanda Safari in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province. Stunning contemporary decor with a distinct Zulu influence, a private hot-tub overlooking the reserve, and amazing food every night. Plus there’s the safari itself – which is one of the best in South Africa. Perfect if you’re looking for adventure and luxury in one pretty package.

Victoria Resort and Spa – Hoi An, Vietnam

South East Asia knows how to do hospitality – and the gorgeous Victoria Resort in Hoi An is no exception. This was easily the best hotel I visited in Vietnam. The setting is gorgeous, the food was amazing (of course it was – it’s Vietnam) and the spa was heaven. And you can rent a motorbike and side-car to explore the area – so much fun!
