Looking for the perfect tour for your next trip? I’ve just discovered a brand new platform that makes searching easy and painless.
PlacePass is an online marketplace that enables travellers to book local tours and activities all over the world. As well as all the usual offers, they have some pretty unique tours and experience on offer to help you get off the beaten path and discover a whole new side to a destination. Since I’m heading home in a few weeks, I’ve been eyeing up some of the more unusual tours in England that PlacePass has on offer. These are a few of the best I’ve found…
English Wine Tasting Tour
England is not exactly well known for its wine scene – but we do have one, as I discovered on my Hampshire trip this summer. And it’s actually very good. PlacePass has a few different wine tours around the country, like this Sussex Wine Tasting Tour, which heads into the pretty English countryside to visit some of the best vineyards in the country. Winery tours, tastings, and a tasty pub lunch – not to mention lots of beautiful scenery and picturesque English towns.

York Chocolate Tour
Once home to two of the biggest chocolate brands in the world, Rowntrees and Terry’s, the historic city of York is a surprisingly sweet destination. This is where iconic treats such as the Kit Kat, Smarties, and – of course – the Yorkie bar were born. The Guided Chocolate Tour in York is led by a professional chocolate expert and teaches everything you need to know about the city’s history as a choccie destination. More importantly, though, it includes tastings – lots of them.

Jurassic Coast Day Trip
If you want to get away from the big cities and see what I honestly think is the most beautiful parts of the country, Dorset’s Jurassic Coast is perfect. This Jurassic Coast Day Trip takes in some of my favourite spots around the prettiest county in England – historic Corfe Castle, stunning Durdle Door, and the fascinating, fossil-rich Lulworth Cove.
From $111 per person.
Beatles Tour of Liverpool by Taxi
Probably the most famous British band of all time, the Beatles were from Liverpool, and the city inspired many of their songs. This unique Beatles Taxi Tour is jam packed with all kinds of fascinating facts about the Fab Four, and takes you to some iconic places, including Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. Looks like a must for any music lover.
From $221 per person.
Bombay Sapphire Distillery Tour
It doesn’t get much more British than a nice gin and tonic – and if you want to learn a lot more about my favourite summer tipple you can’t go wrong with a distillery tour. The Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire is a great place to learn all about the history and making of gin. Once a Victorian paper mill, the distillery itself is beautiful. It’s also the producer of one of the world’s best loved gins. Tours are jam packed with info, and they also include a tasting and complimentary cocktail.
