Travel Fashion – Holiday Glam on a Budget

Holiday Glam on a Budget

Looking fabulous on holiday doesn’t need to cost a fortune. Last year, I headed on my first ever cruise and I managed to put together some pretty smart outfits for the seven days without breaking the bank. It’s all about finding pieces that will work twice, like dresses that work for day and night, and finding the right accessories. This is my guide to holiday glam on a budget. Everything in this post costs under £40, and most things are under £30.

To create this post I teamed up with Quiz Clothing who have recently launched a pretty stunning spring/summer range that is perfect for travel – all at great low prices. I wanted to show how easy it is to put together a stylish holiday break packing list on a budget and Quiz were a great choice. Some (not all) of the items featured below were gifted, but all of the opinions are 100% my own.

By the Pool

When it comes to choosing a swimsuit it’s all personal preference, isn’t it? But, if you’re like me and aren’t completely confident in your own skin, and/or don’t have that flat bikini-selfie tummy, I have the perfect recommendation for you. The secret slimming swimsuits from M&S are seriously flattering and completely conceal the fact that I have a bit of a belly going on (£25, M&S). The ruched middle section draws everything inwards and really flatters my curves. I feel so much more confident since switching to a swimsuit, and I get so many compliments on it too. Plus, with the right accessories it looks surprisingly stylish!

I love the flattering shape of this “secret slimming” swimsuit!

You just can’t go wrong with a big floppy hat, can you? I love this one from Quiz, embroidered with my favourite holiday slogan, “Beach Please” (£17.99, Quiz Clothing). It’ s a nice neutral colour so it will go with anything. And with a black swimsuit, a funky kaftan and some cool accessories, it just looks really stylish. Simple holiday glam at it’s best.

Wear it all with a big old pair of black and gold sunglasses in a shape that suits your face (I love a cat eye lens at the moment) and team with my favourite travel footwear – a pair of Slinks sandals. They’re essentially customisable sandals – you buy a base and a few different uppers (the strap/between the toe part of the sandals) and you can change them to suit different looks. Check out my Slinks sandals review for more information.

Holiday Glam for Day and Night

Whether it’s cocktails by the pool or just pottering round the local village in the sunshine, a nice floaty dress like this gorgeous coral chiffon tunic dress with floral pattern (£26.99, Quiz Clothing) is perfect. The nice loose-fitting shape is really flattering, and it’s the perfect colour to show off your new tan. It will clash with sunburn though so be careful!

Holiday Glam on a Budget

This is my new go-to outfit for drinks out. Even when the sun doesn’t cooperate!

Teamed with a denim jacket, big sunglasses, and some nice flats – this is a great stylish but casual look for day time. But you can also dress it up for a smart evening look. Change the uppers on your Slinks to something sparkly and glamorous, or pop on a nice pair of heels, along with some funky accessories, and you have a perfect look for sunset cocktails or light bar-hopping. If you’re blessed with the gift of height and long legs (as I certainly am not), then you should check out the range of maxi dresses at Quiz too for an effortlessly glam look.

Smart Summer Dress

I’ve really fallen in love with this beautiful crochet paisley print skater dress (£36.99, Quiz Clothing). Because of my slightly top-heavy shape, a short skater dress is one of the most flattering shapes for me – and I love this pale red and white one which is perfect for summer.

Again, you can dress it up or down. It’s a bit smarter than the coral dress but with a denim jacket and some white trainers like these funky white Martel trainers (£20.99, New Look) it looks really sweet and casual. Or dress it up with heels and some nice jewellery and it’s perfect for a more formal holiday setting like a cruise or a dinner at a swanky restaurant.

Rose Gold Sparkly Trainers

Ok, there’s really no reason to put these amazing rose gold sparkly trainers on your packing list, other than the fact that they’re amazing (£22.99, Quiz Clothing). I just love them so much!

Holiday Glam on a Budget

They’re perfect for a casual look, with skinny jeans and a nice white top – plus some big rose gold sunglasses like these retro ones from New Look (£9.99, New Look). They are also rose gold and glittery. What more do you want?!
