For the past fortnight, I’ve been running a fab competition in conjunction with Lomography to giveaway one of their awesome Lomo’Instant cameras in Sanremo edition! The giveaway ended yesterday, and using Rafflecopter’s random technology a winner was chosen…
Nina is a fashion blogger running Lunar Look, so I’m really excited to see what she uses her new instant camera for! To enter, all you had to do was tell me where in the world you’ve taken your favourite travel photo – for Nina, it was London, and considering that London is one of the most historic, beautiful, and eclectic cities in the world it’s easy to see why.
There were hundreds of entries to the competition, with some really great answers to the question – so I’ve included some of my favourites below:
“The first time I stepped out of the subway into Prague. It was like walking into a fairytale.” Atoorina
“On a cliff in Lake Erie. It was a special trip, and the moment meant a lot.” Felicia
“At dawn, alone, in the ruins of a temple in Cambodia.” David
“Hemel en Aarde in South Africa, which literally translates as Heaven on Earth.” Sally
“On the incredible train journey through the mountains from Mostar to Sarajevo, Bosnia.” Claire
“Bergen Belsen concentration camp…touching.” Sarah
The UK did well, with fourteen people saying England or places in England, surprisingly only one mention of Ireland, three of Wales, and nine mentions of Scotland. In Scotland the Isle of Skye and The Cobbler in Arrochar got specific mentions, whilst in Wales some entrants said Llandudno and Tenby were where they took their favourite ever travel photo. In England, three people mentioned Blackpool, five Cornwall, alongside London, Seaton in Devon, Castleton in Derbyshire, Ramsgate in Kent, and the Lake District. And even one person answered with Herm Island – which is right next door to my current home in Guernsey!
There were also lots mentions of iconic places, like New York City and the Grand Canyon in the US, while Europe came up the most, especially Italy, Spain and Greece. Loads of people named specific European cities like Prague, Barcelona and Paris – surely the winning city with six mentions.
Some of the more unusual places to come up included Ghana, Greenland, the Falkland Islands, Playa Las Lajas in Panama, and the Batu Caves in Malaysia.
Oh, and in case you were wondering – I took my favourite ever travel photo at the top of Machu Picchu. All the shots I took up there remind me of a truly special moment, when I finally achieved a travel dream and beat what was, for me at least, a pretty tough challenge.
Where have you taken your favourite ever travel photo? Let me know in the comments – and don’t forget to join me in saying a big congratulations ton Nina on winning the Lomography camera!
Huge thanks to everyone who entered the competition – and commiserations to those who didn’t win this time! Don’t forget to join my mailing list so that you’ll be the first to know about my next giveaway.
